Features
Plots and Ambitions
CK2+ adds dozens of plots and ambitions, giving you many new goals to work towards and adding more spice and intrigue to court life.
Mercenaries and Holy Orders
CK2+ adds dozens of new mercenary companies, a whole new mercenary system for the AI that makes it better at fighting wars, and new Holy Orders for Pagans and Muslims.
Titles
CK2+ reworks the de jure Empire, Kingdom and Duchy maps and adds dozens of new titular duchies, kingdoms and empires for the player to form.
West Africa has been entirely redesigned, with three new Kingdoms and nine new Duchies to create.
Province Prosperity
Provinces now have a prosperity level ranging from Struggling to Rich, which is influenced by events, decisions and the actions of your steward.
Character Decisions
CK2+ changes the 'Give Honorary Title' interaction into a character decisions menu where you can take additional actions such as revoking honorary titles,, legitimizing bastards and granting estates to landless characters.
Religion
Moral Authority has been changed to trend towards more mid-level values instead of instantly going up to 100. Authority can be increased or decreased by a large number of factors including successful holy wars, converting provinces, and the learning, piety and diplomacy of the head of religion.
Jews
CK2+ adds the Jewish religion. In addition to two Jewish realms to play as (The Khazars and the Kingdom of Semien in Ethiopia), there are also Jewish communities and courtiers scattered throughout the world to represent the Jewish diaspora.
Crusades
Upon winning lands in a Crusade, you will now have the option of creating an independent crusader state by granting the lands to a landless relative or a pious retainer.
Crown Authority
CK2+ changes Crown Authority so that it is harder to raise, with increasing prestige requirements for each level of CA. Demense laws are now tied to CA, so that a higher level of CA is needed to heavily tax your vassals. Crown Authority is also vital for the levy sizes of larger realms (see below).
Age and Health
Characters will now suffer martial, health and fertility penalties in old age, reducing both the number of very old characters and old men continuing to have children.
Childbirth and childhood now have an increased element of uncertainity, as women and children can die in childbirth and children below the age of six are at increased risk of dying to diseases.
Traits
Many traits have been changed so that there are less 'all good' and 'all bad' traits, adding some nuance to what traits you pick for your characters.
Decadence
Decadence has been changed into an event-driven system rather than being based around landless dynasty members, removing the need to imprison and execute all your male relatives if playing as a Muslim.
Council
The opinions of your councillors now matter, as councillors who like you will perform better at their assigned missions, while councillors who dislike you will perform worse and might even take to plotting against you...
Rebels
Rebels have been reworked to be less of a nuisance. Most of the time a rebellion is simply an economic malus to your province, though large rebel armies can still rise up and attempt to create an independent county if you let the rebellion go unchecked.
Levies
Levies have been reworked to balance large realms. The more holdings in your realm, the fewer troops you will be able to call on from each of your vassals. Defensive wars and higher CA increases the available levies, so that a Holy Roman Empire with Autonomous Vassals is very weak when on the offensive but still formidable on the defensive and very powerful at higher levels of crown authority, while a Duke will be able to access all or nearly all his levies even at Autonomous Vassals, and thus has little to gain from increases in CA.
